Unlike a student loan, a scholarship is a grant that a student doesn’t have to repay. When a donor establishes an endowed scholarship fund, only the interest is used each year to grant scholarships to qualifying students. Because the original endowment gift is never spent, an endowed scholarship fund can benefit students for many years to come.
Establishing an Endowed Scholarship FundYour gift of $10,000 or more can establish an endowed scholarship fund at USF. You can suggest the qualifications you’d like the recipients to have, or you can ask us to choose any deserving student to receive your scholarship each year. Many families choose to establish endowed funds in memory of a loved one. Other donors arrange to set up an endowed scholarship as part of their estate plan. Adding to a FundYour gift of any size can be added to an existing endowed scholarship fund so the fund can benefit more students. Perhaps you’d like to add to a fund that benefits students in your major or students who come from your state. You may want to give to a fund established in honor of a relative or favorite faculty member.
