A note from Warren and Joyce Camp
We met as students at "The Coo," graduating in 1963 (Warren) and 1965 (Joyce). The years spent there helped prepare us for a lifetime of serving God as public school educators. Now retired, we still believe in the mission of the University as it continues to provide distinctively Christian higher education to today's students. Although we have been members of the President's Council for several years, we had an opportunity to further explore planned giving as guests of the USF Foundation in Captiva Island, Florida. During the seminar, attorney David Nielsen presented much valuable information regarding estate planning which prompted us to take further action. Meeting first with Ben Lee and then with Jeff Veltkamp from the Development Office, we have set up two charitable gift annuities. These annuities allowed for a substantial tax deduction, provide annual income, and effectively reduce the size of our taxable estate. After our lifetime, the principal will be used to benefit faculty and students at the University. An author once wrote. "It is not a question of how much of my money I'll give to God. It is instead a question of how much of God's money I'll keep for myself." Sharing the blessing of our resources means the mission of USF can continue into the next generation. We're grateful for the opportunity to do that! Warren and Joyce Camp |
